Jenna Bush Hager Recalls Losing a Stone from Her Engagement Ring After Savannah Guthrie’s 50th: ‘Never Found’
The 'Today' co-host says she went flying into a "panic" about when to tell her husband, Henry Chase Hager
Jenna Bush Hager's engagement ring is missing some bling.
On the Monday, Sept. 16 episode of Today with Hoda and Jenna, Bush Hager, 42, recalled a jewelry mishap that occurred after fellow Today broadcaster Savannah Guthrie's 50th birthday party in 2022.
"Did you ever hear the story about Savannah’s 50th birthday, where I woke up the next morning and one of the stones out of my engagement ring had fallen out?" she said to her co-host, Hoda Kotb.
Bush Hager continued that she was "not exactly sure" where the stone went and that she worried about telling her husband, Henry Chase Hager.
"I also had this panic like, ‘Do I tell Henry now, right when I wake up? Or do I tell him after maybe he’s had some food.’ I just said, you gotta tell him right away. And he was…"
"Not happy," Kotb interjected.
"A little grumpy," Bush Hager replied, adding that the stone was "never found."

This isn't the first time the anchor has had an incident with her engagement ring.
During an episode of Today in April, Bush Hager recounted losing the ring at a John F. Kennedy airport on the way to a shoot, per Brides.
“I was stressed. I get to the shoot and I’m looking around,” she said. “I’m like, ‘Oh no, I had a whole bag of jewelry.’”
When a member of the talk show's security team contacted the airport, it was discovered that the ring had been found and turned in.

“Some lovely man who I’ve never met returned it to security,” Bush Hager recalled, before admitting that she didn't tell her husband. “I couldn’t even tell Henry because if I lost our engagement ring, it’s priceless. So, I harbored a secret from Henry, too, which was hard.”
Bush Hager met her husband in 2004 when he was working for her father, former president George W. Bush. They got engaged in 2007 and tied the knot in May 2008. Together they share three children: daughters Mila, 11, and Poppy, 9, and son Hal, 5.
Bush Hager isn't the only broadcaster to misplace her engagement ring this year. On Jan. 7, E! News correspondent and Lady Gang podcast Keltie Knight, 42, lost the diamond stone from her 10-year anniversary ring on the 2024 Golden Globes red carpet.
“If you’re a celebrity and you see a 4-carat diamond on the red carpet, please return it to Keltie Knight at E!,” she said in video posted that night “Cause it’s gone and, um… it’s real.”
Knight says the Globes incident — a.k.a. "Diamondgate" — made her feel like "an absolute fool."
"Losing the diamond was hard but realizing it hadn’t been put on our insurance was even worse," she tells PEOPLE of what made the situation that much more upsetting.
But Knight's story had a happy (and sparkling) ending. Fine jewelry brand With Clarity reached out to Knight and offered to replace her ring.
