Jay Leno On Donald Trump: “I’m Not A Fan”
Jay Leno told Piers Morgan on the latter’s show Uncensored that he generally tries to avoid talking politics, especially in his act.
“I just stopped doing politics in my act altogether. You know, when I did The Tonight Show, the idea was you made fun of both sides equally…they’d both be angry. And I’d go, ‘Oh, that’s good.’ You know, they both think you’re supporting the other guy,” Leno said on the episode that appeared online Thursday.

“Now, you’ve gotta take a side and people are angry if you don’t.”
Morgan asked Leno what he thought of Donald Trump, the politician.
“Well, I’m not a fan,” Leno replied. “If the people want that person as president, that’s fine. I mean, I’m not a fan, and it has nothing to do with politics. I just don’t think morally — I think we could do a little bit better. You know all these indictments, whatever it might be.”
Leno added that he’s also not a fan of the efforts to remove the former president from the ballot in various states: “I’m against that ’cause that could turn against you.”
The former Tonight Show host recalled having Donald Trump, the real estate magnate, on his show.
“I liked him. He was fine. He was an interesting character,” said Leno. “I just…this January 6 business and all this other thing, it gets a bit much.”
