Jasmine Roth Was “So Bummed” About One Part of ‘Home Town Takeover’
Last week on Home Town Takeover, HGTV star Jasmine Roth returned as a guest designer to lend a hand as Ben and Erin Napier continue their makeover of the town of Sebring, Florida. With her season 3 appearance, Jasmine has officially been on every season so far, including the 2022 spinoff Home Town: Kickstart, and she says it was an honor to be invited back.
“The town blew me away,” she said of Sebring. “It was really beautiful, and the people were so nice, and they cared so much about their community and the work that Ben and Erin and all of us were able to do there. You just know it leaves a lasting mark.”
In the episode “Wish You Were Here,” Jasmine pitched in on Sebring’s new “postcard mural” (an orange grove scene where visitors can take photos) and a home renovation for a local couple who helps veterans in the community.
She also helped kick off the restoration of historic downtown building destined to become the second location of Sophie’s Cafe, a popular family-owned Cuban restaurant. Just hearing about the beloved local eatery on the show is enough to make anyone’s mouth water, so we had to ask Jasmine: Did she get to eat there? Sadly, that’s a no.
“I was there for such a short period of time, and I worked so much that I didn’t. And I was so bummed. But I heard really good things. Everybody was like, Oh, my gosh, it’s so good. It’s so good,” Jasmine shared. Still, she was honored to be a part of building out the new location and helping the restaurant get to that next step.
The work on Sophie’s Cafe will pick up in the next episode, “An Extra Seat at the Table,” which premieres Sunday, March 23. And if you happen to be visiting Sebring soon and want to taste its authentic Cuban fare for yourself, the restaurant announced the grand opening of the new location on Instagram on March 7.
Another fun tidbit from Jasmine’s time on season 3: When she watched, she could tell right away how much time had passed since filming started in February 2024—by her baby bump! “I was freshly pregnant. I watched it (on Sunday) night, and I was like, whoa, I’m waddling around,” Jasmine said. She and husband Brett welcomed their second daughter last September, and the little one is now six months old!
Of her experience on the show overall, Jasmine said: “What Ben and Erin do on that show is amazing, and it really resonates with me because I grew up in a small town. I think I have that small-town mentality. Even when I’ve lived in big cities, I still crave that small-town feel, and they really embody that. It’s so cool that they’re able to find these deserving towns that have such a sense of community and bring their expertise and all of our expertise and HGTV’s resources to that town.”
