Imogen Anthony spills on split from Kyle Sandilands after his engagement

Just days after Kyle Sandilands announced his engagement to Tegan Kynaston, his ex-girlfriend Imogen Anthony has opened up their eight-year relationship and what led to their split.

Appearing on the Good Bitch podcast on Tuesday, the Big Brother VIP star spoke candidly about what it was like dating the shock jock and why they kept their romance a secret at first.

“We kept it on the down-low for two years because he didn’t want that backlash coming onto me, and I didn’t want to be known as something that I knew everyone would put the label on me for,” she told hosts Jules Rangiheuea and Jodie Clarke.

Imogen went on to reveal details about their break-up in 2019 and admitted that she was the one who didn’t want to try and fix the relationship.

“There was one big thing that happened but when we were trying to talk about what we were going to do with it, I was the one that was just like, ‘I can’t put myself through this anymore’,” she said.

“I’d be on the phone to him, we were having this conversation… And the next morning I’d see pictures of him and her and I’m like, ‘What are you doing? You’re telling me you still want to make this work’.

“Then I wouldn’t answer his phone and he’s like ‘Let me explain, let me explain!’ and I was not even answering,” she continued.

While the model described the situation as “self-destructive”, she said there were plenty of external factors that caused their relationship to end.

“He was going through a lot of s**t. He had people he’d worked with for years he was falling out with, he lost his dad a couple of years earlier and was still dealing with that,” she added.

“A lot of it wasn’t even us, it was him dealing with his own stuff and he knows that.”

Towards the end of the podcast, Imogen shared that she and Kyle are currently “amicable” and there will “always be love” between them.

‘Do your research’

Imogen’s comments come shortly after she seemingly took a dig at Kyle and the other women he’s dated on social media.

While responding to a fan’s comment about her self-worth, the 30-year-old asserted that she’s not just another ‘b***h’ that the radio DJ has slept with.

“You really haven’t been following me for very long,” she replied. “I walked a catwalk, naked, to show women that you didn’t need to base your worth on others’ opinions of you.

“THAT’S how I made it on to Big Brother. Not just being with Kyle, or every b***h he had stuck himself in would be on that show. It's because my value doesn't form around your opinion. No offence, but if you're gonna be a fan, be a real fan and do your research, please.”
