TV chef Miguel Maestre revealed as first I’m A Celeb cast member

Ladies and gentlemen, the identity of the first (un)lucky star who’ll be heading into the South African jungle for the 2020 series of I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! has officially been revealed.

On Tuesday, it was announced that TV chef and co-host of The Living Room, Miguel Maestre, 40, will be trading his comfy spot on the couch for a camp bed in season six of the popular reality show.

Miguel, who appeared on this year’s Dancing With The Stars, was outed in a brand new promo which saw him play a James Bond-esque villain who was holding I’m A Celeb co-hosts Dr Chris Brown and Julia Morris hostage.

The father-of-two took to his Instagram account to muse on the limited menu options available in the wilderness.

“Let’s see how I go making paella out of rice and beans,” he joked.

Miguel’s best mate and Living Room co-host Dr Chris kept the banter going on his account, suggesting that the fast-talking Spaniard may prove a challenge for editors, just like 2018 campmate Shannon ‘Nollsy’ Nolls.

“And since we subtitled Nollsy, Miguel might keep the editors busy given his words per minute,” the TV vet quipped.

Joining Miguel in the jungle for terrifying challengers and stomach-churning Tucker Trials are an Australian comedian, an AFL legend and a television megastar.

The celebs will be competing to win $100,000 for their chosen charity, and the ‘gloating rights’ of being crowned 2020’s King or Queen Of The Jungle.

The reigning king is former Today gossip correspondent Richard Reid, who beat out ex-Gogglebox star Yvie Jones and retired AFL player Shane Crawford to take the top spot.

In related news, Caitlyn Jenner - who was known as Bruce Jenner before her gender reassignment surgery in 2017 - has reportedly signed on to appear in the British version of I'm A Celebrity for a hefty fee.

I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! season six premieres on Sunday, January 5, 2020.
