IKEA launches first ever fitness and workout range
Working out at home has never been more affordable or stylish.
You'd be hard-pressed to find an Aussie home that doesn't have a piece of furniture or homewares from IKEA in it. From bookcases to glassware, IKEA has become the go-to store for affordable quality pieces with a Scandinavian design aesthetic.
But there's one area of the home you couldn't kit out with goods from the Swedish homeware giant — until now — and that's the home gym. In welcome news to fitness enthusiasts of all levels, IKEA Australia is introducing a limited-edition workout range just in time for any health resolutions you make for 2024.
The DAJLIEN collection will be available from January 1 and will feature products ranging from $6 to $149 in price. From a set of hand towels ($6), exercise mats (from $39), and a step-up board ($49), to a set of ring-shaped dumbbells ($35) and a storage exercise bench ($149), the collection is designed to be easy to use, store, and transport.

The range also includes several wearable pieces, like slippers ($10), a belt bag ($10) and two distinct ponchos ($69), for post-workout relaxation and wellness.
The range came about after IKEA staff visited homes in cities around the world, including New York, Chicago, London and Shanghai, to learn about how people wanted to exercise at home. The findings highlighted common challenges connected to motivation, limited space, time constraints and the discomfort many feel when working out at a gym. At the same time, exercise products are seen as bulky and can clash with home decor.
The research led to the development of the DAJLIEN (Swedish word for "daily") collection, which is designed to make it easier for people to exercise wherever they like, every day. "Not everyone feels safe or comfortable going to a gym and at home we often deal with small space and time constraints," said IKEA designer Sarah Fager. "DAJLIEN was born from the desire to find smart solutions that address these limitations and help people create a convenient and motivating place for exercise."
"We wanted to create smart, beautiful products to inspire and redefine training as a fun, easy and natural everyday activity," Fager added.
The products in the DAJLIEN range are designed with subtle colours and details that blend into the home and naturally become part of the everyday environment. The collection also extends beyond fitness gear to include recovery and stress relief products, including an air purifier ($59), a set of yoga straps, kneepads and massage ball ($49), all in soft and soothing shades.
The DAJLIEN collection will be available across Australia at IKEA stores, online, on the IKEA app or remotely via phone and online chat, from 1 January 2024. See the full collection at the IKEA website.
