Downton Abbey's Hugh Bonneville's 'unrecognisable' weight loss
Hugh Bonneville fans have said they hardly recognised the star following a dramatic lockdown transformation.
The Downton Abbey actor shocked fans and presenters alike when he appeared on UK TV show, The One Show this week in a live cross from his home after months of lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Bonneville, 56, was also sporting a new hairstyle, which added to the transformation.
Rocking a trim buzzcut, none of the formal or turn of the century attire for which he has become known thanks to his iconic role as Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham in Downton Abbey Hugh already had some doing a double-take.
Add to that a very slimmed-down physique, and the star was barely recognisable to plenty of fans who shared gobsmacked reaction online.
Twitter fans lose it over ‘unrecognisable’ transformation
People tuning in could not believe how different the actor looked, flooding Twitter with commentary around his new look.
Some wrote saying that he was showing off a ‘glow up’.
“How skinny does Hugh look!?” one surprised fan posted on Twitter.
“Had to do a ‘double-take’. Didn't recognise Hugh Bonneville at first. Looking amazing,” said another.

“Wow, I didn't recognise Hugh Bonneville on #TheOneShow to start with! What a transformation!” gushed another fan.
There was also the suggestion that Bonneville now looks a lot like some other famous faces.
