Home and Away's Lynne McGranger reacts to 'extraordinary' Logie nomination
EXCLUSIVE: Lynne McGranger opens up about how it feels to be nominated for the very first time.
30 years after joining the cast of Home and Away, Lynne McGranger has finally received her first Logie Award nomination.
The 70-year-old actress, who in 2014 became the longest-serving female cast member of a television soap opera in Australia, is nominated for Most Popular Actress at this year’s ceremony alongside her co-stars Emily Symons and Ada Nicodemou.
Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle ahead of the 63rd TV Week Logie Awards on Sunday, July 30, Lynne says it feels “truly extraordinary” to be recognised after three decades on TV.
“It is something I've thought about in the past, and I think Em feels the same that you feel like, oh well, okay, we don't fit into people's headspace and people don't think to nominate us or anything like that,” she shares.
“So it's wonderful, it’s lovely, and I am just enjoying the ride so much.”

Lynne also points out that the six women nominated for Most Popular Actress this year - herself, Emily, Ada, Kitty Flanagan, Julia Zemiro and Celeste Barber - are all over 40.
“It's a first for women of a certain age,” she remarks. “It’s just lovely not to be invisible and I'm sure if those other three ladies were here, they would say exactly the same thing.”
'I truly did not believe it'
Ada, who has previously been nominated six times, tells Yahoo Lifestyle she didn’t expect to be recognised again this year.
“You don't take it for granted and I was very, very excited, I really didn't expect it,” she says. “And then I didn't know that [Emily and Lynne] were also nominated, so when I found out that it was the three of us, that was really lovely. It's really nice to share it with them.”
Meanwhile, first-time nominees Lynne and Emily both admit they didn’t initially believe they had been nominated when they were first told the news.
“I thought our publicist was taking the mickey,” Lynne recalls. “I went to my partner and I said, ‘Is this a dream? Am I having a dream or is this real life?’. And he goes, ‘Why?’. And I went, ‘Because I was just told I was nominated for Silver Logie’. And he goes, 'Oh, that's great!’. I truly did not believe it or expect it.”
“Same!” Emily adds. “I kept saying, ‘Are you kidding? Are you kidding? Are you kidding? Is this a joke?’. I don't know why, that would be a cruel joke. But I was very delighted and very grateful.”

Although they are all nominated in the same category, the trio says they aren’t competitive and would be happy with whoever takes home the award.
“A win for any of us is a win for the show,” Emily shares.
