She’s played Leah Patterson on Home and Away for the past 23 years and now Ada Nicodemou has embarked on a new career move. The iconic Aussie actress took to her Instagram page to announce to her 379,000 followers that she is now officially an author.

Showing off the colourful book in a social media video, Ada excitedly took to the caption to write: "I’m very excited to announce my brand new book, Mia Megastar! 📚"

“It’s all about family, food, friendship & fun and is the perfect junior fiction novel for all the young people out there (aimed at 8-year-old girls and above) who want to be megastars ⭐️.

“You can pre-order it now via the link in my bio.”

In the accompanying video, Ada explained that it’s loosely based on her own life growing up and what inspired her to become an actress.

“It’s funny, warm, it’s all about the crazy Greek culture,” she said.

Ada’s fans and friends flocked to the comments section to wish her well and tell her they’d be first in line to purchase the book.

“Congratulations sweetheart. Will definitely get it for my 8yo 😘” one person wrote.

“We will definitely be buying this one my 9yr is super excited for it!!” another person wrote.

Ada's health scare

The actress’ book reveal comes after she was forced to take some time away from the soap last year when she suffered a major back injury.

In an Instagram Story at the time, she revealed she couldn’t feel her leg after a single sneeze caused her to put her back out.

“Funny thing happened. Woke up Thursday morning, quite early, to go to the gym, and I sneezed,” she told fans.

“And [then] I was in excruciating pain, couldn’t walk, couldn’t do anything. Had to basically lie flat on my back.

“Anyway, I’ve done something. I think I’ve got a bulging disc and now I can’t feel my leg, and I don’t know when it’s going to heal.

“So, yay, to me sneezing,” she said sarcastically.

Thankfully Ada seems to have made a recovery and has had a huge year, being nominated for yet another Logie Award and partaking in one of the darkest storylines on the show that her character has ever seen.
