Home and Away fans go wild over strange detail: 'Not real'

Summer Bay fans were confused by a particular hospital scene.

Home and Away fans are notoriously passionate about the soap opera, with thousands of fans jumping on social media to discuss actors, storylines and the show. After a terrible car crash kicked off the 2023 season, multiple lives hung in the balance.

Fans were distraught over their favourite characters Leah Patterson (Ada Nicodemou), Felicity Newman (Jacqui Purvis) and Eden Fowler (Stephanie Panozzo) being sent to hospital after the horrific accident. As Eden lay in critical condition with Cash Newman (Nicholas Cartwright) by her side, eagle-eyed fans noticed that something was potentially wrong with the scene.

Eden suffered a serious brain injury in the crash and has been put on life support to hopefully pull through to the other side.

While the hospital set is impressive with an array of medical apparatus hooked up to the actress, one of the monitors appears to be off. The minor ‘mistake’ caused heated debate between fans, with some saying it ‘wasn’t realistic’ and ‘stupid’.

On the other hand, some fans said it wasn’t a big deal with one suggesting the machine was in ‘sleep mode’ during the scene. There are also other monitors in the room that are working, so the machine could be a piece of equipment that wasn't being used for her recovery.

“As someone that’s been on life support…I’ve been laughing my head off! Soooo many little mistakes,” one fan commented.

“They could at least have the noise of the machines [in the background] to make it realistic. Not just silence,” another added.

“Don’t forget, she’s on life support but looks like she’s just chilling in the stroke ward! Not ICU. I know it’s just a TV show, but it annoys me how people just get to walk into resus like the Bourke St mall,” a third chimed in.

“Always makes me laugh there isn’t a nurse sitting at a computer 1:1 with the patient that’s in ICU LOL,” another remarked.

A group of fans fiercely defended their favourite TV show, saying that ‘picking holes’ in the soap wasn’t needed.

“This makes me laugh. Who cares if it’s on or not or what colour socks they are wearing lol. Just watch the show. Love Home and Away,” a person wrote.

“Who cares? Honestly why does it matter? It’s a fictional TV show and a fictional storyline,” another chimed in.

“It’s actually not real life so she isn’t really on the machines, it’s called acting. Give them a break,” a third added.

“It’s just a show, why does everyone take things so seriously. Just watch and enjoy the show,” another remarked.
