Ada Nicodemou shares 'weirdest' Home and Away moment: ‘Wow’

The popular Aussie star has revealed a behind-the-scenes secret.

Home and Away returned to Australian screens on Monday night with a jaw-dropping episode. Leah Patterson (Ada Nicodemou) and Justin Morgan (James Stewart) were travelling to pick up Tane Parata (Ethan Browne) and Felicity Newman’s (Jacqui Purvis) wedding cake when they were involved in a horrific car accident.

Felicity and Eden Fowler (Stephanie Panozzo) were driving a restored ute in the opposite direction when their brakes suddenly stopped working. In a moment of panic, Eden swerved the car into the right-hand lane, colliding with Leah and Justin.

Viewers were shocked to see fan-favourite Leah in danger, with the Summer Bay local hyperventilating in the car after being impaled by a metal fence pole.

While the car accident looked extremely real, Ada Nicodemou has revealed that it was actually a blast to shoot. In a video posted on Instagram, she shared the bizarre way the impact of the crash was filmed.

Sitting next to James Stewart, who plays her onscreen boyfriend, the pair sat in a stationary green vehicle and pretended to drive.

A few seconds in, the pair lift their arms as if they’ve been in a car accident, with Ada falling down in her seat and James throwing his head onto the steering wheel. A blast of wind is sent towards the star during the action to make it look more realistic.

As soon as the shot was finished, Ada burst into laughter while seated in the car.

“This would have to be one of the weirdest things I’ve had to do on set,” she quipped in the caption.

Fans couldn’t believe this was how the accident was staged and viewers were baffled by how light-hearted the cast and crew seemed during the terrifying scene.

“Not me just watching this on repeat laughing with you after watching it last night on the edge of my seat,” one person commented.

“Looks like you’re doing the Mexican wave,” another joked.

“You guys are hilarious, that laugh at the end lol,” a third chimed in.

"Wow that was an intense scene," another remarked.

The star also shared a separate carousel of behind-the-scenes shots with fans, with wardrobe assistants adjusting how the metal pole sat on her stomach.

“Don’t know who saw last night’s episode and what you thought of it. I loved it! So proud of our show and what we create. Our crew are so talented! Here’s some #bts from the episode,” she gushed.

Viewers will need to tune in this week to see who survives the accident, with Jacqui telling Yahoo Lifestyle that “someone could die”. At the end of the episode, Eden and Leah were seen in critical condition while Felicity was trapped in a burning car.

Justin is now saddled with guilt after Cash Newman (Nicholas Cartwright) tore into him for installing faulty brakes in the ute.

What the Summer Bay residents are yet to discover is that the bikie gang are behind the sabotaged brakes. The menacing gang are working on a “Plan B” to target Cash and other characters.

“Aw no does Leah die?? No she’s been on Home and Away for years!!” one person wrote.

“Leah best not die, can’t do that to us,” another added.

“Home and Away never ceases to take me by surprise! My mouth dropped open at this scene, I didn’t expect to see that right through you omg! Ask my husband I screamed out loud NO!!!! Leah better not be leaving,” a third chimed in.

“This broke my heart last night, God I hope you haven’t left,” another wrote.
