Yahoo Lifestyle Hoda Kotb Reveals Unique Way She Plans to Stay in Touch With Al Roker

It may be Hoda Kotb's last week on the Today show, but that doesn't mean she won't be keeping up with her co-stars after she leaves!
The news anchor's final day on the NBC morning series airs on January 10, with Craig Melvin taking her spot as a co-anchor during the primetime hours of the show the following Monday, January 13. While Hoda has expressed how she plans on continuing to speak to her work family long after she exits Today, she revealed she'll likely be hitting up Al Roker in order to get some important alerts every morning.
When Hoda appeared on the December 19, 2024 episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers, host Seth Meyers asked if she'll be sad about missing Al's daily weather reports live from the office. But she quickly assured him that no, she doesn't plan on missing them — because she'll be texting him to get that information straight from the source.
"Are you gonna miss getting your morning weather report from Al Roker?" Seth asked her in a clip posted on Instagram.
"Oh, I'm still going to get that," Hoda answered with a laugh. "I'm texting Al. I'm going to be like, 'What's up for my trip? What's up for today?' And Al, he's the first one to respond."
When folks heard Hoda's idea for how she wants to stay in touch with Al, they immediately loved it.
"She’s a living legend 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾," one person wrote in the comments on Instagram. "😂😍😍😍😍😍," another cracked up. "Hoda is the best. I love her. She ll be very missed," a different follower added.
Talk about keeping a friendship alive! Even though the two won't be on the air together anymore, Al shared how he totally understood Hoda's desire to be with her daughters Haley Joy and Hope Catherine more as she explores life away from morning television.
"[I] couldn't be happier [for her]," he told USA Today back in October 2024. "She gets to live her life and do stuff and explore things. If I were where Hoda is right now, I would probably do the same thing because she's got two young children."
