This Is The Final Time You Can Tune In To See Hoda Kotb On 'Today'
Hoda Kotb shocked fans when she revealed in September that she would be leaving the Today show. At the time, the 60-year-old explained her decision in a letter.
"As I write this, my heart is all over the map,” the longtime Today co-host wrote. "I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s a painful one. And you all are the reason why. They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show."
While her broadcast career has been “beyond meaningful,” Hoda shared that her daughters—which includes Haley Joy, 7, and Hope Catherine, 5—and her mom “need and deserve a bigger piece of my time pie.”
Of course, Hoda made her announcement months ago, raising a lot of questions about when Hoda’s last day will be. Here’s what she’s shared.
When is Hoda’s last day?
Hoda’s last day on Today will be on Friday, January 10. Today has hilariously called this week a “Hoda-bration” of the co-host.
The festivities kicked off on January 6, when Hoda reunited with 70 of her Virginia Tech Tri Delta sorority sisters. On January 7, Hoda was joined by the Ludwig family, whose late mother Hoda connected with along her breast cancer journey, per People.
Who is replacing Hoda on 'Today'?
Hoda will be replaced by Craig Melvin, who currently co-hosts the third hour of Today.
Hoda has been very supportive of Craig's new gig. In November, she told Craig on-air, “You are made for this job. You are literally made for this job. You are that kind of good. You have all the things that this job needs. You're the right person for it."
Who is replacing Hoda on 'Today With Hoda & Jenna'?
After Hoda leaves, the fourth hour of Today will be called Today with Jenna & Friends. During that segment, co-host Jenna Bush Hager will "date" a rotating group of guest co-hosts until a permanent one is named.
The first group of celebrity co-hosts has already been lined up, which includes Taraji P. Henson, Eva Longoria, and Keke Palmer.
What is Hoda doing next?
Hoda plans to spend a lot of time focusing on her family. She and her daughters just moved out to the New York suburbs, and Hoda already has her future schedule planned.
"I've already got my routine! I've been planning it," Hoda told Women's Health. "I'm waking up at 5:15. I'm going to SoulCycle at 5:30—they have one in my town. I'm going to do it until 6:30. I'm going to get home. I'm going to feed my kids breakfast. I'm going to walk them to school with a Yeti mug full of coffee with heavy cream in it. I'm going to walk home slowly."
Hoda added that she's going to remain in the health and wellness realm with a mysterious project.
"I'm going to be in this space, and it hasn't been fully formed," she said. "There's no meat on the bones, but we are working towards some things that I think are going to be really exciting and fun. It's about making wellness accessible to someone who's never tried it."
