Hoda Kotb Reveals How She’ll Still Appear on TV With ’Today’ After Her Exit (Exclusive)

While Hoda Kotb is ready to move on from her role on the Today show, that doesn't mean she's planning on leaving TV forever.

While chatting exclusively with Parade, the longtime news anchor, 60, revealed if—and how—fans will still see her on the small screen ahead of her last broadcast on Friday, Jan. 10.

"Yes, you will [see me on TV]," she says. "So I will be going to the Olympics in Milan and in Los Angeles. Actually, when they were saying, 'Let's do things together'—of course I am part of NBC and will be—I said, 'How about if we do the Olympics?' So I'll be kind of in a Snoop [Dogg]-ish role working with the Today show in Milan and in L.A. I'm going to continue to do my 'Making Space' podcast, which I love deeply."

"It is such a part of me, and I'll be coming back to the Today show, maybe once a month in the springtime to talk about stuff and maybe do a story here and there, that kind of thing," Kotb tells Parade. "And I'm excited about that, too, because I've never been there in that capacity. So I think that would be fun, too. So I get to just play with my friends again."

Kotb announced her exit from Today in September 2024 after working as an anchor on NBC for decades. She first joined the network in 1998 as a correspondent on Dateline and all NBC news platforms, and served as the first host of Today's fourth hour in 2007 before being joined by Kathie Lee Gifford the following year. Jenna Bush Hager succeeded Gifford after her exit in 2019. Kotb has also co-anchored Today with Savannah Guthrie since 2018.

"I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new," Kotb said while announcing her exit last year.

Noting that a birthday celebration in August sparked the decision, she added, "I remembered standing outside looking at these beautiful bunch of people with these gorgeous signs, and I thought, 'This is what the top of the wave feels like for me.' And I thought it can't get better, and I decided that this is the right time for me to kind of move on."
