Himesh Patel, Elliot Page, Bill Irwin & Samantha Morton Set Voyage For Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’

Christopher Nolan’s next big epic at Universal, The Odyssey, has added Himesh Patel, Elliot Page, Bill Irwin and Samantha Morton.

For Patel, Page and Irwin, it’s a reteam with the 2x Oscar-winning filmmaker. Patel starred in Nolan’s 2020 Tenet, Page in 2010’s Inception, and Irwin in 2014’s Interstellar. For 2x Oscar nominee Morton, it’s her first time working with Nolan.

The foursome join a booming ensemble that counts Matt DamonTom HollandAnne Hathaway, ZendayaRobert PattinsonLupita Nyong’o, Benny Safdie and Charlize Theron.

Nolan’s mythic action epic, shot with new Imax cameras, is based on the ancient Greek poem by Homer which follows Odysseus, King of Ithaca, and his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. The classic explores themes of heroism, loyalty, cunning and the struggle against divine will. The tale includes iconic stories like Odysseus’ encounters with the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens and the witch-goddess Circe, culminating in a reunion with his wife Penelope.

The film will of course be screened in Imax when it hits cinemas everywhere on July 17, 2026; that third weekend of July is a good luck date for Nolan where he’s launched such hits as Dark Knight, Dunkirk, Oppenheimer among other titles.

Patel broke out in Universal’s romcom Yesterday and starred in Don’t Look Up, the HBO series Station Eleven, Netflix’s Enola Holmes 2 and recently the Sundance world premiere Bubble & Squeak. The actor is repped by WME, 42 and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.

Page was Oscar nominated for Juno and counts two Emmy noms in Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program for Gaycation. Credits include Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy, and the movies X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: The Last Stand, Whip It and Tilda among others. Irwin is a Tony Award winning actor for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
