Here's Why Hilary Duff Is Going Viral After Carrie Underwood Announced She Will Be Performing At Trump's Inauguration

It was recently announced that Carrie Underwood will be performing at Trump's inauguration next week, along with the Village People and Lee Greenwood. (Here are some other Trump-supporting musicians we could see perform as well.)

Carrie will be singing "America the Beautiful." At Trump's last inauguration in 2017, the song was performed by the Mormon group The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.

Since the news broke, people have had strong opinions. It has also stirred up conversations about previous inaugurations...

People on TikTok have started sharing clips of musicians from prior years' performances, and one that people can't stop talking about is Hilary Duff's.

Hilary is the millennial icon who became famous for playing Lizzie in Disney's Lizzie McGuire, if you somehow aren't familiar with the '00s.

Anyway, 17-year-old Hilary performed "Come Clean" to kick off Bush's inauguration in 2005.

(Yes, it is that song you can't get out of your head that goes, "Let the rain fall down and wake my dreams. / Let it wash away my sanity...")

Hilary performed it at the "Youth Concert" in Washington, DC. The concert was one of the first events to initiate former president Bush being sworn into his second term at the time.

The event was hosted by George's twin daughters Barbara and Jenna, who were 24 at the time.

Besides people realizing it was quite an interesting choice...

Comment by user Candie: "I didn't realize Bush was chill like that"

They couldn't help but find the comedy in it.

And people went on to talk about how the inauguration musicians have been so fitting for each president.

For example, a lot of people think Biden having Lady Gaga just makes sense.

And when the Piano Guys sang at Trump's 2017 inauguration, people felt it was also fitting.

For Barack Obama's second term in 2013, he had countless musicians, including Alicia Keys and Kelly Clarkson. And Aretha Franklin notably performed "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" at Obama's first inauguration in 2009. At the inauguration ball, Beyoncé performed "At Last" for Barack and Michelle.

Overall, though, people are still just feeling gobsmacked about the musical delights of the 2005 Bush inauguration.
