Heidi Montag Sobs During ‘Good Morning America’ Appearance Amid LA Wildfires
After losing their home in the Los Angeles wildfires, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are opening up about the devastating experience.
During a Wednesday, Jan. 15 appearance on Good Morning America, Montag broke down crying as she described the process of evacuating the home she shared with Pratt and the couple's two sons, Gunner, 7, and Ryker, 2.
“Spencer was like ‘Grab anything you want to keep,’” she recalled. “And I was like, ‘How do you choose?’ You know? My brain stopped working because I was so overwhelmed with so many things you can’t replace. So I grabbed my kids’ teddy bears.”

“It’s a place that you love that you live, it’s a refuge from the world. And to have that be gone, it’s a really difficult concept to continue to daily deal with,” the mother-of-two said.
Unfortunately, Montag and Pratt's home and belongings were not insured, as they had been dropped from their insurance policy.
"We were house poor as they call it," Montag explained. "We have a house and everything else is a hustle, is a grind. So yeah, we’re definitely counting every dollar that we make. We’re working really hard to take one trip a year.”
Pratt also shared his horror at watching their home burn down.
“The worst was like our kid's room, that was so magical,” he said. “We do story time each night, it’s like our routine, so much love is in there. Our son’s bed started just burning in the shape of a heart. The fire started in the shape of a heart. I was like, ‘This is like, out of body insane.’”

Fans on Instagram were quick to show their support, with one person even suggesting a new reality show concept.
"The Pratts From Scratch: where they rebuild their home and their lives. Somebody make it happen," they wrote.
"There’s something about them that’s different than other celebs. Maybe it’s the reality part of their stardom - they are so real and authentic. I always want them to win and I feel they will do that again. They will overcome this," declared a second person.
"I met them in Aspen years ago. Heidi was just the sweetest… Genuine down to earth… People need to stop with the negative comments and have empathy. I couldn’t imagine going through that wishing them nothing but the best.❤️" another commenter added.
