Halsey refuses to sing on “SubwayTakes”: 'I sang in public one time 10 years ago and everyone still makes fun of me'
The "Lucky" singer also raves about "The Bear" and "The Boss."
Halsey is a Grammy-nominated artist who's sold millions of albums and performed many concerts, but don't try to get her to sing on the subway.
"I can't do it here. I can't do it here," she told the host of SubwayTakes in an episode posted Monday. "No, I sang in public one time like 10 years ago, and everybody still makes fun of me for it. Yeah, it was in a mall."
Halsey revealed the backstory after Kareem Rahma asked her to name her "favorite Halsey song," and she named "Nightmare." He asked her to sing it, and that's when she declined the offer.

However, in the same conversation, which took place while they commuted by subway train, she did sing a line of a Bruce Springsteen song with Rahma.
"I think that some people because of the, like, Americana caricature have never looked into what an amazing songwriter he is," Halsey, whose real name is Ashley Frangipane, said. "The other day I was reading lyrics of his to someone and pretending it was poetry..."

She quoted lines from Springsteen's 1985 song "I'm on Fire."
Later in the conversation, Halsey proclaimed her love for both TV's The Bear and for its Emmy-winning actress Ayo Edebiri, who's nominated for a second trophy at the Sept. 15 ceremony.
"I would do anything for her," she said.
In addition to Edebiri, the entire show is expected to clean up. Going into the night, its second season is the most-nominated comedy series in Emmys history.
