Hailee Steinfeld has been on your radio, on movie screens and now she will be part of your parties.

On Wednesday, Feb. 12, the multihyphenate announced her new line of canned drinks called Angel Margarita. The pivot from being in front of the camera to behind-the-scenes taste-testing was “surreal,” the Edge of Seventeen actress tells PEOPLE.

“I have always been intrigued by this ready-to-drink space. And I never thought that I would be able to be a part of something so unique and so special, and with the most incredible team, and be involved in the way that I am,” the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse star says, explaining that sharing the drinks with the world is not unlike her previous projects. “It’s kind of like when you're working on a film or you're making a song, you're in it, you've done that take a million times, you've listened to the song a million times. But then, it actually sets in at some point or another that other people are going to hear this and see this. And in this case, taste it.”

The 28-year-old’s venture comes in four flavors — Lime, Grapefruit Paloma, Ranch Water and Wild Berry (Steinfeld’s current fave) — and combines sparkling water, agave syrup, natural flavors and 100% agave tequila. The drinks are sourced and manufactured in Jalisco, Mexico, and have come together over the years with the help of Premium Beers Group’s Jordi Zindel and Rodrigo Hernandez.

When it came to getting down to these final four versions, Steinfeld says she and her team would sit down for taste tests and turn on some music to get in the zone.

“It's like you're trying on a dress for an event, right? And you want to maybe put your hair back if you think you're going to put your hair back for that. So, you want to get the sense of how it's going to feel. So, how could we not do that? How could we not create this vibe of, ‘This is one scenario, one of many, that we could be enjoying this beverage’?” she explains of the unconventional process.

The brand name comes from the Angel of Independence in Mexico City and the golden monument is featured on the cans as part of the company’s “values of Authenticity, Quality and Celebration,” according to a press release. Steinfeld adds of the brand identity: “It's just about being together and celebrating life and all that life has to offer.”

For her, Angel Margarita is perfect for when her friends come over (“I take it right out of the fridge, pour over some ice with a garnish and it's the most perfect margarita,” she says) or when she is cooking with fiancé Josh Allen.

“I think there's something so sophisticated about cooking with a great little cocktail,” she said with a laugh, continuing that cooking with the Buffalo Bills quarterback is “one of our favorite things to do together.” “I'm a real good sous chef, I'll say that much. I can assist very well. There really isn't anything he's not great at. So, he can cook, and I love to just sit back and watch the magic happen and assist when and where I can — but it changes often!”
