Yahoo Lifestyle Gwen Stefani Roasts Blake Shelton After He Debuts His Next 'Hit Song'
Musicians never know when inspiration will strike for their next song: it could happen while you’re angry at your record label, like Sara Bareilles’ “Love Song,” or because Warren Beatty loved you and left you, à la Carly Simon and “You’re So Vain.”
Or, if you’re Blake Shelton, it happens when you’re puttering around the farm and thinking about the crops you're about to plant.
The country singer took to Instagram on Sunday, Feb. 23 to update his fans on how his planting’s going, posting a video in which he said, “I’ve been meaning to plant onions for a few weeks now,” before explaining that he’s had the supplies ready to go but had “been putting it off and wasting time.”
Shelton continued, saying that since it was “beautiful here in Oklahoma,” it was time to plant, before panning the camera over to his tractor and declaring, “It’s onion time.”

The “Ol’ Red” singer then broke out into a tune, with lyrics that detailed how he started his day. “I woke up this morning and I flushed a big floater, and now I’m planting onions on my orange Kubota,” referencing the tractor brand.
Fans seemed to find the song charming, and rushed to the comments to praise him. “Blake what a great song, keep being you!Love your post we need more of them. ❤️😂,” wrote one fan, while another agreed, commenting, “Love this! ❤️ This video is so great and made me laugh and brightened my day! 😂😊🧅.” One even went so far as to call it “Another hit song 🎶! 👏👏👏 👍.”
Unfortunately for Shelton, not all of the comments seemed as enthusiastic about his ditty, including one from his wife, fellow musician Gwen Stefani.
“Dummy 😂,” she wrote succinctly, prompting fans to jump to his defense, pointing out “but babe, you will have onions! This is awesome!” and proclaiming that she must have “all day entertainment with Blake ❤️.”
