Groom slammed for 'messed up' wedding expectation: 'Red flag'

A groom has been slammed online after his fiancée shared his ‘messed up’ wedding expectation.

In a confession on popular forum website Reddit, the bride-to-be explained that she wasn’t allowed to wear a white dress because he doesn’t consider her ‘pure’ enough.

In her post, she told other users that she has been in a relationship with Ryan for six years, and the couple have been planning their wedding for eight months.

“About a month ago Ryan out of nowhere said he was talking to some of his coworkers and thinks that I shouldn’t wear a white dress,” she began. “I’m set on wearing white. I told him this and I could see he was annoyed but he let it go.

“Two weeks ago I finally picked and paid for my dress and this caused a huge argument. Ryan again came to me very annoyed. He asked to see the dress I picked, but I said no because I wanted it to be a surprise for our wedding day.”

The bride said that after she admitted her wedding dress was white, Ryan ‘threw a fit’.

“When I asked him what colour he thought I’d be wearing, he told me I should wear red…and he told me that brides only wear white when they are pure.”

She also shared some ‘background’ information with users, saying that while Ryan was a virgin when they met, she came into the relationship with one previous sexual partner. She adds that her sexual history did ‘cause a lot of problems’ due to his ‘insecurity’ in the first year, but was since forgotten — until now.

“He went to his mum about all of this thinking she would convince me, but she’s on my side. So two nights ago, Ryan, his mum and I stood in our living room and argued about my sex life being shown in a dress," she said.

“His mum stated that he is no longer a virgin either so maybe he should wear red too and he burst out crying. Ryan is still stating that me wearing white would be deceiving all of the guests and that it is different for guys,” she wrote.

The bride said the whole debacle has made her reconsider even going through with the wedding, and confessed that his behaviour has ‘disgusted’ her.

Although she wasn’t asking for advice, many Reddit users begged her to leave the relationship.

“Look, if he is this insecure after six years together, things are not going to improve. Is he going to mention your ‘impurity’ in his wedding speech? Is he going to try to leverage this in your marriage to get what he wants? Is he going to demand paternity tests for your children? I’d seriously consider what you are signing up for. Dude sounds messed up af,” one person advised.

“I try not to generalise on the internet but this guy wreaks of misogyny and potential abuse. It’s so f**king gross and I highly doubt I could marry him after that,” a second commented.

“I’m sorry but I have to agree. This is a GIANT red flag. This problem is going to come up again and again. And something is festering deep in his mind. I would try to resolve this problem before you go any further,” added another.

“So basically he wants to announce you as a scarlet woman, while he's the pure one? I agree with what had been written before me — pack the necessities, your documents and money, and leave that jerk to his pathetic sexistic fantasies, because that guy is one huge walking red flag,” remarked a fourth.
