Green Day Abruptly Evacuates Mid-Concert Due to Security Threat
Punk rock band Green Day's concert in Detroit, Mich. on Sept. 4, experienced an unexpected interruption when someone ran on stage mid-song, leading the whole band to suddenly stop playing and evacuate the stage.
The crowd of fans was unperturbed by the situation, continuing to sing the song after the music stopped. Green Day reportedly returned around 10 minutes later to finish the song and the concert.
Later the same night, in a now-deleted tweet, Green Day took to X to share a message with fans, saying, "Detroit! Sorry for the delay in the show tonight, Stadium security had us clear the stage while they dealt with a potential safety issue. DPD quickly resolved the situation, and we were able to continue. Thanks for understanding.💚."
Dan Donakowski of the Detroit police told The Detroit News that someone flew a drone into the concert venue, leading to the pause in the concert. The police said that the man who flew the drone was detained pending further investigation.
After returning to the stage, lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong addressed the crowd, saying, "How you guys doing? Everybody OK?...There ain't no motherf----- that's gonna stop us, I'll tell you that."
A fan shared a clip of the moment the band left the stage on social media, writing, "Green Day just got forced offstage. Some guy ran onstage and said something and they all ran off."

Thankfully, everyone was safe after the incident and Green Day still got to perform for their fans. The band is currently on The Saviors Tour and the next concert is set for Sept. 7 in Denver, Colo.
