Speaking to the Daily Mail on Wednesday, Jan. 8, Baldwin said, "It was an immediate spring into action and an amalgamation of questions racing through my head,” as she remembered asking herself, "Can I get my cat out?"

Baldwin, a cat-mom to 10-year-old tortoiseshell cat Kitty, was trying to make her way back to her apartment when she got stuck in the bumper-to-bumper traffic with hoards of people trying to evacuate the area.

Eventually, she made the choice to abandon her car "and run."

"I ran for about 15 minutes on Sunset Boulevard until I made it home," she recalled, noting that when she arrived at her apartment, it took her a while to find the cat, who was hiding.

"She had gone into her best hiding spot which was inside the couch. I grabbed her and wrapped her up in a blanket and put her inside my cat carrier backpack," Baldwin said. "Once we got outside, the fire had gotten closer to us and the path going back to my car was now no longer an option."

'I thought to myself, 'where I am suppose to go?' The fire was all around us. The terrifying part was when a big gust of wind and smoke came in so fast that you couldn't see anything," she said, adding that, "I was genuinely running for my life with my cat strapped to my back and a suitcase rolling behind me."

"I had to dart in and out of the cars and dodge flaming branches and palm leaves falling to the ground all around me like a minefield,” she recalled. “It felt like something I would see or do in an action movie, not my real life."

Baldwin then made the decision to run toward the water, during which she called her mom to tell her she loved her. "I honestly didn't know if I was going to make it."

Eventually, Baldwin made it to safety at the beach, where she reunited with her father, who was also in the area helping firefighters direct traffic and aid those in need.

According to the Daily Mail, Baldwin is now safe and staying with a friend in North Hollywood.
