As another Saint Patrick’s Day rolls around you may catch yourself thinking ‘what is St. Paddy’s Day, anyhow?’

It’s a big parade, partying and a whole lot of green.

The day, filled with steak and ale pie, curry chips and Tayto sandwiches, marks the death of Saint Patrick, the patron Saint of Ireland. The fellow that supposedly drove all the snakes from the country.

Anyone with a phone and Internet connection will feel the buzz around the event and notice it’s customary to wear green and drink a rich dark beer by the name of Guinness. But if Guinness is not your thing and you’re more into pastel pink hues, we’ve devised a plan to escape the green this St. Paddy’s Day…

First thing is first, swap the Guinness for Kim Crawford Rosè. The brand is the top New Zealand drop sold in the United States, so you can’t go wrong.

Launched in 1996 in Auckland, it wasn’t long before the brand started exporting their popular bottles to the US. Kim Crawford’s Sauvignon Blanc is super fancy too – the wine has made the Wine Spectacular Top 100 list in 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2008.

Certainly a more elegant choice than Guiness if you’re entertaining this Saint Pat’s Day – Kim Crawford Rosè is a wine that stimulates your senses at the first crack. It’s our go-to bottle to have in the fridge for a cheeky mid-week date and perfect to have on standby when you’re entertaining the girls. Sip it while grazing a charcuterie board with soft cheeses or put an opulent spin on the drink with one of our cocktail recipes.

Looking for other ways to escape the green and go pink this St. Patrick’s Day? Here are three more pink trends sweeping the Internet…

1. The bold pink dress
Pink is so in, this year’s Oscars red carpet was a sea of vibrant blush tones. From Jason Momoa’s pale velvet suit to Kacey Musgraves’ sherbet ruffles, pink was the dominant choice from Hollywood’s night of nights, no doubt forecasting a refined fashion trend for 2019. Time to update the wardrobe with a pink frock, girls.

2. Casting an eye
If makeup trends from recent Fashion Weeks are an indicator, pink eyeshadow will be a thing this year. Bella Hadid strutted the runway for designer Brandon Maxwell’s Texas-inspired show with pretty-as-a-picture pale fuchsia shadow and a slight cat-eye flick. The inspo? “Baby barbies in Texas,” says a MAC Cosmetics spokesperson.

Katy Perry’s recent Grammys look is also a nod to the pink-shadowed eye. Very glam.

3. Pink coffee (and croissants!)
Certainly one of the most Instagrammable drinks out there, the pink latte is the latest themed food to tickle our obsession with ‘millennial pink.’ One cafe in the UK creates the pink milk with powdered beetroot while Sydney cafe Local Mbassy offers a Red Velvet coffee made from mocha, batter and steamed milk. Lush indeed.
