Glenn Close Opens Up About Being Single For Nearly A Decade After Divorce
Looks like Glenn Close won’t be “swiping right” in search of love anytime soon.
In a candid moment on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” the acclaimed actor — who has been married three times — opened up about her single status, which has been a constant since her divorce from David Shaw in 2015. The conversation, which began when the two bonded over their beloved canine companions, quickly took a personal turn.
Close revealed that her dog, “Pip,” arrived to her during a very “difficult divorce” after her daughter was “insistent” on her mother getting a furry companion. The pooch has since become her “emotional support,” and also “goes with her everywhere.”
When Barrymore inquired whether Close had dipped her toe into the dating pool since her 2015 divorce, the actor replied — without hesitation — “No.”
The “Fatal Attraction” star was quick to confirm that she is, in fact, “very happy.” The topic then took a turn toward dating apps, prompting Barrymore to ask if Close has ever dabbled in online matchmaking.
“Are you crazy,” Close replied, with a perfect mix of shock and amusement on her face. She admitted to being “too shy” for such digital pursuits of love. In a playful manner, Barrymore revealed that she has gotten “so into” the dating apps and reassured Close that the searching was “different.”
With a confident look on her face, Close responded, “I’m not searching.”
“I’m not a hugely comfortably social person,” Close confessed. “So I don’t leap to go to a party at all. Yeah, I’m OK.”
