‘Friday Night Lights’ Alum Taylor Kitsch Says He’s “Been Asked” To Be Part Of Peacock’s Reboot
Taylor Kitsch might be ready to relive some memories and reprise his Friday Night Lights role in Peacock’s upcoming reboot.
Universal Television is working on a new version of the sports drama series, and Kitsch says he has been contacted.

“I’ve been asked, and we’ll leave it at that,” the actor said on SiriusXM’s The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw while promoting the Netflix miniseries American Primeval.
Kitsch clarified that he wasn’t asked to be the football but “to be a part of some kind of reboot.”
The actor said that he’s “flattered” about being asked to reprise his role but don’t count on him being sticking around the Friday Night Lights universe for too long.
“Never say never, but I would come in and do something, maybe for an episode or something, but I don’t wanna go and do the whole thing,” he says. “I’d go and have fun but I don’t want to lead an FNL reboot or anything. I love the continuously challenging roles and to keep pushing.”
Kitsch played Tim Riggins throughout the show’s five-season run. When he was asked if he would want to play Riggins again or a new character, the actor said he was open to doing both.
However, Kitsch noted that “if you saw me as someone else, you’d be like, ‘That’s Riggins.'”
Kitsch also pitched an idea on how his character could appear on the reboot, saying, “I would go do maybe play an opposing teams coach or something and be on screen for eight seconds. I would do that.”
Deadline reported in December that Universal Television would produce the show for Peacock, which comes from Jason Katims, who was the original showrunner, original director Peter Berg, and producer Brian Grazer. The trio will executive produce alongside Kristen Zolner for Imagine Entertainment.
The premise for the reboot would be set following a devastating hurricane when a rag-tag high school football team and their damaged interim coach make an unlikely bid for a Texas High School State Championship and become a beacon of light for their town.
