“Freakier Friday” First Look: Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis Mirror Their Iconic Screams in New Glimpse
'Freakier Friday,' a sequel to Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis' 2003 comedy 'Freaky Friday,' is in theaters Aug. 8, 2025
Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis have a Friday surprise for fans.
On Friday, Oct. 11, Walt Disney Studios shared a new photo from Freakier Friday, a sequel to the 2003 comedy Freaky Friday.
In the image, the costars are seen recreating their iconic screaming pose they shared in the original as mother-daughter duo Anna and Tess Coleman, who mysteriously switch bodies overnight.
"TGIF. 😱 😱 #FreakierFriday arrives in theaters August 8, 2025," the post's caption reads, revealing the release date.
Disney confirmed that Freakier Friday was in production back in June after years of speculation about a sequel. Lohan, 38, told PEOPLE back in March that the new film was "in the process." The movie wrapped production in August, and both Lohan and Curtis, 65, commemorated their onscreen reunion on Instagram at that time.
"It’s our last Monday on the set of #freakierfriday and my heart is so full,” Lohan wrote in an Instagram post shared Aug. 19. “The wonderful cast, crew and everyone from @disneystudios have invested so much time and love into making this movie!”
"It has been a pleasure to work with my dear friend @jamieleecurtis who brings so much joy to our set everyday and she has made this all the more special," she added.

A few days prior, Curtis shared a selfie from the movie's set and wrote in a caption that she was "feeling especially grateful to my ULTIMATE movie daughter, @lindsaylohan without whom we could not have made this movie. Ever."
While the storyline of the Freaky Friday sequel has not yet been divulged, a number of other actors from the 2003 original are returning, including Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao.
Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Sophia Hammons join the movie's cast, Variety reported in June. Lohan revealed to Entertainment Weekly at D23 in August that Jacinto, 37, will portray her character's husband in the new movie.
Freakier Friday is in theaters Aug. 8, 2025.
