Fans spot odd detail in Bindi Irwin's hiking snap

All eyes have been on mum-to-be Bindi Irwin since she announced she was expecting back in August, however, it was her own mum, Terri, who stole the spotlight in her latest Instagram post.

The 22-year-old conservationist shared a snap of the Irwin brood — her brother Robert, husband Chandler Powell and matriarch Terri — enjoying a hike together in Queensland on Wednesday.

“Can’t wait for beautiful baby girl to arrive next year,” she wrote in the caption.

“She’s going to love all of our wild and wonderful adventures together,” she added.

While both Robert, 17, and Chandler, 24, appeared to be equipped with fancy SLR cameras for the trek fans noticed that Terri, 56, had chosen to capture the day in a slightly more retro method.

“Camcorder?” one of Bindi’s followers asked in the comments.

Yes indeed, despite technology coming leaps and bounds since the humble camcorder was invented several decades ago, Mrs Irwin clearly wasn’t about to ditch her trusty video recorder.

Terri’s retro tech

Fans were delighted with grandma-to-be Terri’s low-fi choice, with one writing, “Bless your Mama. She’s back there with an old school camcorder.”

“The best part of this is mama Terri with the handicam,” another said.

“This brings back so many memories growing up with a parent who loved to film all the ‘boring’ moments, and now we cherish those the most!” they added.

Others joked about seeing the family dressed in something other than their iconic Australia Zoo uniforms.

“I legit didn’t recognise y’all out of khaki,” one quipped.

Many remarked on Robert’s resemblance to his late father, Steve; “Robert is truly the spitting image of his dad!” one declared.

Requests for Bindi to share some baby name hints and bump updates also came thick and fast in the comments.

Bindi’s baby news

Bindi and Chandler announced they were expecting their first child back in August with a heartfelt Instagram post captioned, “Baby Wildlife Warrior due 2021.”

Holding up a tiny infant-sized khaki Australia Zookeeper outfit, the Queenslander posed alongside her US-born husband for an adorable photo.

Bindi revealed that she was in her first trimester at the time, meaning that their little bundle of joy is expected to arrive around February next year.

A day after their baby news broke, grandma-to-be Terri, 56, took to Twitter to share her excitement but said she wished her late husband, Steve Irwin, was there to share the special time with them.

On March 25th, Bindi and Chandler married in a ‘small ceremony’ at Australia Zoo after being forced to move everything forward due to the coronavirus outbreak.
