Yahoo Lifestyle Exclusive Doc Finale Sneak Peek: Is Amy Reverting to Her Old Ways? Plus, Scoop on Fallout of the Lie and Kiss
The most recent episode of Fox’s Doc was titled, “What Goes Up….”
The already-renewed medical drama’s season finale, airing Tuesday at 9/8c, is titled, “…Must Come Down.” Hmm. That, combined with the exclusive sneak peek above, frankly has me more than a bit worried that Dr. Amy Larsen (played by Molly Parker) is at risk of her former, icier self bleeding through as she deals with the whammy of a whopper told by rival Dr. Richard Miller (Scott Wolf).

Coming out of the events of “What Goes Up…,” “A dark night of the soul will ensue” for Amy, Doc showrunner Barbie Kligman tells TVLine. “Partially because she believes she is responsible for Bill Dixon’s death; partially because of the naughty kiss she just had in the elevator, with her ex-husband who’s married and expecting a child; and partially because she’s doubting herself about the decision she made regarding TJ’s dad, who is not yet showing signs of recovery.”
In Tuesday’s finale, “She has to go through all of that,” Kligman previews, and the shock to the good doc’s system will find her acting a bit out of sorts, in a sadly familiar way.
Alluding to the sneak peek above, Kligman says, “What’s very exciting [about the finale] is an interaction Amy has with Katie (Charlotte Fountain-Jardim), giving her a chance — because she’s clearly pulling away — to either do the same things she’s done before [the accident], or take the lessons from Episode 2 and go, ‘No, I’m going to do it differently.'”
Speaking of the aforementioned “naughty kiss,” which was teed up by Michael’s (Omar Metwally) hug and face caresses, but ultimately initiated by Amy, I asked Kligman if Michael caught his ex in a terribly vulnerable state, or was Amy’s true yearning showing?
“I think it was both,” the EP answered. “It was Michael catching her in her most vulnerable moment, and both of them considering the other to be the love of their life. [It was] a lost moment of strange opportunity, but also about who that person is.”
In other words, even if Amy’s current lover, Jake (Jon Ecker), was in the elevator instead of Michael, “I don’t think it would have been [the same outcome],” says Kligman. “There’s something about the familiarity of the love that was.”
