Example and Erin McNaught announce shock split after 11 years

Musician Example and his model wife Erin McNaught have called it quits after 11 years together.

The British rapper, real name Elliot John Gleave, admitted that while the couple had tried to make it work ‘behind the scenes’, their relationship came to ‘a natural end’.

The celebrity pair wrote a lengthy statement on Instagram, asking fans to give them ‘space’.

“Although we don’t feel this is anybody’s business but our own, it is inevitable that sometime soon the media could start speculating over our personal life,” the statement began.

“At the start of the UK summer we decided to separate. We have had an amazing 11 years together, but just a few too many adventures. Obviously we spent a lot of time behind the scenes trying to figure things out, but we came to the realisation that perhaps our time as a couple had just come to a natural end.”

The stars added that they still have ‘an abundance of love and respect for one another’, and revealed they have been co-parenting their children for almost six months.

Example and Erin currently reside in Brisbane and have two sons, 7-year-old Evander and 5-year-old Ennio.

While Example’s music career means he has to tour during the year, Erin took their children to London for four weeks, so they would be able to spend time with their dad.

“We have had incredible support from our closest friends and family, who are proud of how [we] are handling this separation,” the statement continued.

“We have turned off commenting to protect ourselves, our children and closest friends and family. Please do not feel the need to text or DM us whoever you are. We would appreciate the space right now and don’t want to be distracted by conversations over texts, social media or FaceTime when we need to devote so much time [on] our own well-being, and most importantly, that of our children.”

The couple added that due to their co-parenting situation, it’s likely that they will be spotted out in public together.

“This is as amicable as it gets. Nobody is blaming anyone in all this. We are very happy that this is the right decision and hope that others can respect this too. Everything is as it should be. Love, E&E,” they wrote, before adding: “P.s. this picture was taken today.”

Although their fans are unable to comment, the couple’s break-up post has already received over 41,000 likes.
