Home and Away star Isla Fisher's awkward George Clooney mishap
Former Home and Away star Isla Fisher has recounted an embarrassing mistake she made when attending a party with her husband Sasha Baron Cohen.
Appearing on The Sunday Project, the star told a story about when the couple went to George Clooney’s home in Lake Como, Italy.
“We were in costume,” she laughed, before adding that they took a ‘very large block of cheese’ as a gift.
The stars were in the Austrian mountains when the cheese was made, and were excited to take the ‘heavy’ cheese to the party.
The pair turned up wearing lederhosen, a form of traditional dress that people often wear in Germany for the beer drinking festival Oktoberfest.

“We were in lederhosen, as one does, which is a great joke at the start of the evening, everyone’s like, ‘Oh, really breaks the ice!’,” she explained.
“But then a few hours in, you’re sweating in your lederhosen with a giant bit of cheese.”
The Project panellists were fascinated with the thought of the star bringing the large cheese, with Rachel Corbett asking if the gift went in the overhead locker.
“We drove it there, and when we gave it to [George Clooney], it wasn’t received with as much joy as I would’ve liked,” the Wedding Crashers star said.
“And I was a bit like, ‘But what do we get you George, you’ve got everything! Come on! It’s a giant cheese!’.
“But I saw the cheese at the end of the night and the cheese had been dug into, so clearly it was a win,” she recalled.
The Now You See Me actress has been busy appearing in Hollywood films for the past two decades, but was on the show to promote her new project.
While she has written multiple children’s books, she has just published her first hard cover picture book called Mazy the Movie Star.
The star spilled that her new book is inspired by her dog Maisy, and joked that she also wanted her 7-year-old son Montgomery to ‘think she was cool’.
