Eve Hewson & Murray Bartlett To Lead Hulu Comedy Pilot ‘Downforce’

Eve Hewson (The Perfect Couple, Bad Sisters) and Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus, The Last of Us) are set to lead the ABC Signature comedy pilot Downforce for Hulu.

Downforce follows Victoria (Hewson), the estranged daughter of a storied racing team’s owner, Sir Trevor (Bartlett), who is thrust back into the family business, leaving the pair to find common ground or risk destroying the team’s legacy.

Sir Trevor is described as the team’s “larger-than-life founder and owner.” Victoria is “a shrewd and ruthless investment banker who finds her way back into the front office. She knows business, he knows racing, and together they have to figure out the business of racing after years apart.”

Alec Berg will direct the pilot and executive produce alongside Adam Countee, both of who have overall deals at ABC Signature. EPs also include Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey for Temple Hill, Daniel Ricciardo, Amy Solomon and Lionsgate.

Hewson is starring as the lead of Susanne Bier’s Netflix limited series The Perfect Couple opposite Nicole Kidman and Dakota Fanning. She can also soon be seen in the 2nd season of Apple TV+’s dark comedy series Bad Sisters from creator Sharon Horgan. Last year, Hewson starred in John Carney’s musical comedy Flora and Son which was acquired by Apple. Previous credits include Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies, Steven Soderbergh’s The Knick, Nicole Holofcener’s Enough Said and Paolo Sorrentino’s This Must Be The Place. Hewson is repped by WME, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Sloane Offer Weber Dern.

Murray recently wrapped production on the film At The Sea starring as Amy Adams’ husband. The film was directed by Kornél Mundrouczó and produced by Aaron Ryder and Stuart Manashil. Upcoming film releases include the leading role of ‘Stan’ in the A24 film Opus, and the Searchlight Pictures O’Dessa. He was recently seen in the independent feature Ponyboi. On TV, he stars opposite Nicole Kidman in Hulu’s 2nd season of Nine Perfect Strangers and previously starred in HBO’s The White Lotus. He was nominated for a 2023 Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, playing ‘Frank’, in HBO’s The Last of Us. Simultaneously, he was nominated for Supporting Actor as ‘Nick De Noia’ in Hulu’s series Welcome To Chippendales.
