Em Rusciano's husband rushed to hospital after horror crash

Comedian and former radio star Em Rusciano has taken to social media to reveal that her husband was rushed to hospital after a horror road cycling crash.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Em, 42, explained that her husband, Scott Barrow, was in the 'final stages' of a race when the frightening incident occurred on Tuesday.

Shocking crash

While the extent of Scott's injuries isn't yet clear, a confronting hospital-bed photo shared by Em indicates he suffered cuts and grazes to his face and is missing a tooth.

She also described paramedics having to 'peel' Scott off the road.

In true funny lady style, Em revealed that while he is "on the mend" he will remain in hospital because his heart is "being a little diva".

"Thanks to everyone who has sent good vibes my husband’s way," she wrote.

"He’s on the mend, still in hospital because his bloody heart is being a little diva.

"He was in the final stages of a race and went for a gap that closed up apparently. He wanted me to tell you all that he would’ve won otherwise.

"Thank you to the ambos who peeled him off the road and to the nurses who are dealing with his snoring."

Em went on to make a quip about scheduling an "emotional breakdown" due to the stress — and hinted that Scott's cycling days might be over.

"[Scott] gave us quite the fright, I’m bookmarking my emotional breakdown for the end of the month.

"I’m also obviously gonna strap his bike to the roof racks of my car and drive under a low hanging carport... Again..."

'Magical' nurses

In a subsequent Instagram Stories clip, Em provided more details on her husband's heart issue, saying that he had some "irregularities that can apparently happen after trauma".

"They're keeping him in for tests. He's the fittest person I know so, hopefully, it's all ok," she said.

An emotional Em then gave a huge thank you to the nurses for their care.

"You're not paid enough and you're magic. Thank you for looking after my husband and everyone really

Em — who shares children Marchella, 20, Odette, 14, and one-year-old Elio with Scott — admitted that the situation could've been worse and that she's 'grateful' that it wasn't.

Em is currently gearing up to perform at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl later in March. It's the first time the former Australian Idol star will take the stage since her widely celebrated musical comedy concert Rage and Rainbows — which featured dancing vaginas and songs about the ‘flap up’ movement — in 2019.
