Chris Hemsworth's wife Elsa Pataky stranded in Byron Bay flood
Elsa Pataky has shared the jaw-dropping moment she found herself stranded on a country highway in NSW after heavy rains left the roadway completely flooded with rushing water.
The Fast and Furious star, and wife of Thor’s Chris Hemsworth took to Instagram to share the scary moment she realised her car was stuck in rushing water that completely covered the road, creeping up past the van’s wheels and doors.
Elsa, who lives in Byron Bay with Chris and their three children India Rose, seven, and six-year-old twins Sasha and Tristan, was driving along what appears to be a country road, which seemed to have fallen victim to a sudden flood after two days of rain.
NSW’s East Coast has been hammered by rains over weekend and at the start of the week, leading to floods mainly in the state’s south, but clearly impacting the north as well.
“And I got stuck,” she told the camera, panning to show the incredible amount of water that had crept up while she tried to cross the road.

“Yes, awesome,” she joked, before adding: “Oh God what am I doing? Oh no”.
She then filmed herself in the car’s side mirror while the water kept rushing by.
Eventually, the mum of three had to climb out the car’s window – the water at this point above the base of the doors – and wade across to safety.
Keeping a sense of humour about her, Elsa captioned one of the videos ‘great job Elsa’ in a sarcastic dig at herself.
The silver van had to be towed out by Chris Hemsworth’s personal trainer Luke Zocchi, who was clad in rash vest and board shorts to protect against the gushing brown water, and what looked like Chris himself waiting on the bank with a four-wheel drive to heave the van out.
“What would I do without you?” the Spanish-born beauty joked with the makeshift rescue crew.
Elsa, who at this point was able to laugh about the situation, had waded back in to help with the recovery.
The star is known for her very honest and down to earth online presence, regularly appearing out and about in her local Byron Bay community with hubby Chris.
Last year the pair warmed hearts when, following an alleged stabbing in a Byron Bay public school, they arrived on the scene to volunteer at the canteen.
The Spanish-born beauty has also revealed to Yahoo Lifestyle that she and her hubby of nine years have a ‘fun’ rivalry during their shared workout sessions.
“We’re competitive with how we train, with how many reps we can do,” the 43-year-old, who was in Australia for the re-opening of luxury label Louis Vuitton’s Sydney CBD store, said last year.
