Ellen Degeneres Is in Her Brunette Era and Practically Unrecognizable With an Even Darker Shade

Ellen DeGeneres is firmly in her brunette era—and, honestly, she looks almost unrecognizable.

The former talk show host was photographed at a birthday celebration for her wife, Portia de Rossi, at Chiltern Firehouse in London, sporting a dark brown pixie cut. She wore an all-navy look for the party, pairing a turtleneck with jeans, a lightweight jacket, and a pair of white sneakers.

DeGeneres has famously rocked a bleached blonde pixie for her entire career. After her long-running show came to an end in 2022, Degeneres has led a more private life. Indeed, in her July 2024 Netflix special, Ellen’s Last Stand…Up, she spoke about being "kicked out of show business for being mean” and stated, “This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”

In 2024, she and her wife made the decision to migrate to the Cotsolds, a rural area in the south west of England following the election of President Donald Trump. The pair were reportedly "very disillusioned" with the results and they decided "to get the hell out," according to a source who spoke to TMZ at the time. Apparently, DeGeneres had begun house hunting a month earlier. "Ellen was in England house hunting in the beginning of October," a source told People. "She ended up finding a house that she loved and purchased it shortly after."

DeGeneres first debuted an ashy hair shade shortly after she made the move across the pond. She was spotted with de Rossi at a local pub while rocking the slightly darker color. Earlier this month, DeGeneres was once again spotted with what appeared to be a gray-brown pixie. Her latest look appears to be a few shades darker still. Evidently, DeGeneres is in her reinvention era.
