‘Dune 2’ and ‘Wicked’ Among AMPS Nominations

“A Complete Unknown,” “Conclave,” “Dune: Part Two,” “The Substance” and “Wicked” are among the Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS) nominees.

Now in its 12th year, the awards recognize excellence from sound professionals across the industry, highlighting roles such as production sound mixers, supervising dialogue/ADR editors, supervising sound editors or sound designers and re-recording mixers. Honorees are selected from across five categories: Feature Films, Television Dramas, Factual Films, Production and Post-Production Audio Products.

Production sound mixers also have the opportunity to select a key 1st assistant sound professional for nomination and award consideration.

The final ballot for the Feature Film award will open Jan. 11 and close Jan. 21, with the winner set to be announced on Jan. 23.

The AMPS awards represent a key part of the official awards season calendar. In the past, AMPS winners have tended to succeed in both BAFTA and Oscar consideration. “The Zone of Interest” which earned the 2024 AMPS Feature Film Sound award, continued this trend by winning three BAFTA awards and two Academy Awards. Over the past 11 years, the winners of the AMPS Feature Film Sound award have garnered the BAFTA 10 times and an Oscar seven times.

The AMPS awards ceremony is continually supported by key leaders in the industry such as Dolby Laboratories, Pinewood Group, Sennheiser, Raycom and Bubblebee Industries.

The official timeline for the remaining categories of the AMPS awards will be announced in the next few weeks. AMPS is a United Kingdom-based craft guild and was founded in 1989. The organization currently has nearly 600 members.
