Viral TikTok dishwasher rack hack stuns: 'Who knew!?'
A TikToker has left the internet baffled after sharing a ‘genius’ little-known dishwasher hack.
Professional organiser Anita Birges posted the ‘life-changing’ dish rack hack to her TikTok account.
Her clip has been watched almost 200,000 times and shared across several cleaning and organising groups on social media gaining a huge amount of views.
Addressing a common dishwasher problem she started her video by asking: “Do you have a problem with your dishes fitting in your dishwasher?”
“You put them on the bottom rack and when you go to wash them, the top rack hits them.”
Demonstrating the frustrating problem with most dishwashers, Anita then says she has a very clever way around it that most people aren't aware of.
Sliding out the top rack, she pulls it out completely, before repositioning it on a higher level and locking the clips back into place.
She said the hack works on almost all dishwashers with some having an adjustable handle or lever.

The quick trick allows the bottom rack to have a lot more room to stack dishes and cookware properly without hitting the spray arms of the dishwasher.
‘Ths is mind-blowing!’
The little-known hack sent people into a spin, with many saying the annoying problem had them searching for new plates and even a new dishwasher.
“Thank you sooo much for this life-changing hack… I was nearly buying other plates,” one person commented on her video.
“And I was not using dishwasher because my plates were not fitting in it. I just put the upper rack in the upper position. Thank you so much!” Another excited person commented.
“Omg, had this issue for 5 years. Thank you!” Added another, while a fourth wrote: “You have changed my world!”
The reaction was similar on Facebook, with many people saying they had ‘no idea’ they could create more space in their dishwasher within a matter of minutes.
“Aww man, we replaced our last dishwasher because the plates didn't fit!” one person sheared after learning the trick.
“Honestly can’t believe I’ve had my dishwasher for 12 years and didn’t know this. I always thought it was so odd that my dinner plates hit the rotating arm…” said another.
It's not new
Despite the thousands of comments for people who never knew this was an option, others said it was clearly stated in the dishwasher manual.
“OMG how could people not know this? Why else would there be two sets of wheels?” One person commented.
“Seriously I have to show people all the time that the top rack is adjustable. Cracks me up that people dont read the manual...or just read that section,” said another.
