Yahoo Lifestyle Descendants Sets Fifth Movie in Present-Day Wonderland — Disney Reveals New and Returning Cast
There’s no more need to wonder about the future of the Descendants franchise: Disney has confirmed that a fifth movie is in the works, with several key players already set to return.
Following the events of 2024’s Descendants: The Rise of Red, the fifth installment finds Red (Kylie Cantrall) and Chloe (Malia Baker) facing the consequences of their recent time-bending journey. Though specifics about the plot remain under wraps, we know that the film will primarily take place in present-day Wonderland, with Leonardo Nam also returning as Maddox Hatter.

Joined by several new descendants, including one who could very well be a member of Encanto‘s Madrigal family, the team will uncover the consequences Uma alluded to at the end of the previous movie: “Getting what you want can be dangerous, especially when you mess with the fabric of time.”
Further details, including additional casting and the film’s official title, will be announced at a later date.
The fifth Descendants movie is being directed by Kimmy Gatewood (The Baby-Sitters Club), with choreography by Emilio Dosal (Wicked). Tamara Chestna (Sneakerella) wrote the script alongside Rise of Red scribes Dan Frey and Ru Sommer.

Kylie Cantrall as Princess Red
Introduced in the fourth Descendants film, Red is the daughter of Wonderland’s Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora). It’s not yet known whether Ora will also return to reprise her role.
Malia Baker as Chloe Charming
Also introduced in Descendants: The Rise of Red, Chloe is the daughter of Cinderella (Brandy Norwood) and Prince Charming (Paolo Montalban). It’s not yet known whether Norwood and Montalban will also return to reprise their roles.
Leonardo Nam as Maddox Hatter
Maddox, son of Wonderland’s iconic Mad Hatter, was first introduced in Descendants: The Rise of Red.
Liamani Segura as Princess Pink
As her name suggests, Princess Pink is indeed the sister of Princess Red (Cantrall) and the daughter of the Queen of Hearts (Ora).
Brendon Tremblay as Max Hatter
Until told otherwise, we’re going to assume that Max is the younger brother of Maddox Hatter (Nam).
Alexandro Byrd as Luis Madrigal
With a last name like Madrigal, could Luis be a descendant of the family from Encanto?
Kiara Romero as Hazel Hook
Hazel is presumably a descendant of both Captain Hook (Thomas Doherty) and Harry Hook (Joshua Colley).
