Derek Hough Didn't Hold Back Watching Chandler Kinney on 'DWTS'
Throughout Dancing With the Stars season 33, actress Chandler Kinney has managed to impress a plethora of audiences each week. But no one was more impressed than judge Derek Hough, who had a surprise reaction to her week 7 performance.
For the ABC series' 500th episode on November 12, viewers watched Chandler and partner Brandon Armstrong as they were tasked with reimagining the Argentine Tango Derek performed with his celebrity partner Kellie Pickler back in season 16. As Chandler and Brandon moved across the studio ballroom, they paid homage to the Emmy winner's incredible choreography and received plenty of cheer throughout. After Chandler and Brandon wrapped their memorable take on Derek's moves, Derek couldn't help but be completely blown away by the job the two had just done. What's more, Chandler and Brandon were so good, they managed to win a score of 30 — the first perfect score of the entire season.
"Comparison is inevitable," Derek told the duo for his feedback, per Entertainment Weekly. "But I preferred this one. I really did. That’s a big compliment. Your approach was sharp and a little different. You did it smooth as silk — the accuracy, the intensity, it was just so slick."
What's more, fans were equally enamored online with how well the two recreated Derek's unforgettable Argentine Tango.
"Brandon & Chandler were given the Assignment & they understood it well!!" one person wrote on YouTube. "TENS ACROSS THE BOARD!!!! This dance was so INCREDIBLE!!!!! One of my favorites that Chandler and Brandon have done so far!!! These two are definitely coming for the MIRRORBALL!!!!!!" another cheered. "This was the only dance tonight that was better than the original 🔥🔥," a different viewer added.
As some longtime viewers may remember, Derek and Kellie were so good at their dances that they snagged the Mirrorball and won season 16. And even though it's unclear whether Chandler will have a similar fate, this dance alone proves she needs to make it to the finals.
Looks like we know who to keep an eye out for next week!
