Demi Moore wants the world (and her adult kids) to know that 'farts are nothing to be ashamed of'

"If a fart slips out, just own it," Moore told daughters Rumer, Tallulah, and Scout Willis in an Instagram video.

Demi Moore is tired of flatulence always being the butt of the joke.

The Ghost actress is taking action to destigmatize farting — and her first step is educating her own children. On Thursday, the actress unveiled her partnership with digestive medicine company Wonderbelly, by sharing an Instagram video in which she reads the company’s new book, An Adult’s Guide to Farts, to her own adult children.

"What’s the big stink about?” Moore began.

Referencing the embarrassment that surrounds farts, she continued, "What are some of the common techniques to hide your farts? You can blame the dog. You can pretend nothing happened. Or just run away and change your identity.”

She continued, “Sometimes we try to avoid farting altogether and then sometimes when we finally give in, we accidentally get more than we bargained for. But farts are nothing to be ashamed of. They’re very normal.”

While pointing out illustrations, she narrated, “Look here: cats fart. Dogs fart. Birds fart. Even bugs fart. That was a surprise!” Moore then offered her kids a key piece of advice: “If a fart slips out, just own it.”

That particular insight was interrupted by a cut to her gassy audience — including daughters, Rumer Willis, Scout Willis, and Tallulah Willis, whom she shares with Bruce Willis. Unfortunately, Moore’s message had yet to take root because after someone let one rip, everyone began pointing fingers in a search for the culprit.

"Remember there’s no shame in a fart,” Moore continued. “It’s totally normal and accepting that is accepting a part of yourself.

Moore took things a step further in the video's caption where she challenged three other celebs to attempt their own dramatic reading of the book: Kelly Ripa, Kate Hudson, and Chelsea Handler. She also gave a shoutout to her daughters, writing, "This goes out to all my hot girls with stomach issues," before tagging the trio's profiles.

In an interview with PEOPLE, An Adult’s Guide to Farts author and Wonderbelly co-founder Lucas Kraft said, “We have this big mission around de-stigmatizing issues like eating disorders all the way to farting. There are things that we should be a little bit more comfortable talking about.”

Moore told that outlet that while the book is "funny and light-hearted," it conveys a "message about self-acceptance" that "aims to make readers smile, feel more informed and feel less embarrassed about their bodies."
