Yahoo Lifestyle A Deep Dive on Luke Thompson's Rumored Relationship With His 'Bridgerton' Co-Star Harriet Cains
Dearest Gentle Reader, Bridgerton Season 4 has officially started production, and "The Ton" (by which I mean me and the Reddit pages I lurk on) is buzzing over Benedict Bridgerton, aka Luke Thompson, finding love in a hopeless horny place with Sophie Beckett, aka Yerin Ha. Obviously, we've been respectfully curious about Luke since Bridgerton first entered our lives and the time has come to dig into his dating history. Of which we know...not that much due to him being a many of mystery.
First of all, lemme just go ahead and shut down those of you who are spiraling over the absolutely palpable chemistry between Luke and Yerin. They are not together, as far as we know—despite the endearing vibes in this video (the way Luke looks at her is...too much for me).
Luke is, however, rumored to be dating Bridgerton's very own Harriet Cains, who plays Philippa Featherington. And for what it's worth, her aesthetic on screen couldn't be more different than her aesthetic off-screen. For starters, no she does not actually have bright red hair.
The Daily Mail first claimed that Luke and Harriet were an item back in June 2024, but here's the thing: neither of them have confirmed speculation, so this is technically still a rumor.
That said, this was their vibe at the BAFTAs back in January:
And there's also the fact that Harriet posted this photo of Luke when Other Luke (aka Luke Newton, who plays Colin Bridgerton) was promoting season three.
As vague as this is (though those heart emojis are definitely begging to be read into), Luke is even more vague when asked about his private life. Not only does he not have social media, he doesn't really buy into the idea of fame.
"I feel it’s more of a choice than people make it out to be. I think if you want to stay private, you can do it," he told Country and Town House. "It’s a trade off, though. It does mean you have to turn down some things you’d maybe quite like to do. But I don’t buy that it’s something you’re subjected to." He added, "The reason I’m not on social media is that it plays into my addictive behaviours. It worries me, what it does to your attention span – I’m worried that I haven’t read a book in a long time, and that I find it difficult to focus on a film. But maybe partly I think I’m not capable of dealing with it. And it doesn’t quite square with my vision of this job. But, you know, people have different visions of the job."
Anyway, circling back to Reddit real quick! Depending on where you lurk, there are claims that Luke and Harriet are just friends *and* claims that they've broken up and she's moved on. But there's little to no sourcing on said claims, and as we previously noted: these two are private so...their status is officially ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Before we go, though, FYI that Harriet's on-screen sister Bessie Carter (who plays Prudence Featherington) is dating Sam Phillips (who played Lord Debling in Season 3). The pair have been spotted packing on the PDA in front of paps, and they haven't exactly been hiding their relationship at red carpet events. Here for it!
Side note: it's unclear if either of the Featherington sisters will be in Bridgerton Season 4, but their names aren't on the official cast list so...
