Danny Pintauro Shows Off Abdomen Scar After Scary Scooter Accident
The 'Who's The Boss' star had an "impromptu scar reveal photoshoot" for his 49th birthday on Monday
Danny Pintauro is healing after a scooter accident during the holidays left him hospitalized with a large scar on his abdomen.
In an Instagram post shared Monday, Jan. 6, the Who's The Boss alum celebrated his 49th birthday by showing off his scar from the accident, previously revealing that it happened on Nov. 28, 2024, the night of Thanksgiving.
“Well, this birthday certainly hits differently. So I decided to open the bottle of @barefootwine Limited Edition Pride 2020 Rose I’ve been saving for a special occasion,” Pintauro began in his Instagram Reels caption.
“Surviving 2024 is absolutely a special occasion! Survive in 2024, THRIVE in 2025. And then I decided to do a little impromptu scar reveal photoshoot!” his caption concluded.
The video, set to Ariana Grande’s “Sweetener,” showed the actor standing shirtless in a pair of jeans as he poured himself a glass to celebrate both his birthday and being alive.
A diagonal scar could be seen, stretching from under his chest to above his navel.
Pintauro shared news of the accident in a Dec. 1 Instagram post, which included footage of him lying in a hospital bed with an intubation tube in his mouth. As the video went on, he explained he had been riding a scooter in the bike lane, when it was "suddenly blocked with cones."

With only moments to spare before the imminent crash, he had “to choose between a van and a pylon," the actor said, adding that “pylons hurt!!”
He shared his injuries, explaining that the pain was so bad, he thought he’d broken his arm. Pintauro added that it wasn’t until Nov. 30 that the pain got so bad, he could “barely breathe.”
His husband, Wil Tabares, took him to Memorial Care Miller Hospital in Long Beach, Calif., where Pintauro had tests done and learned he had "an infection in my bloodstream due to a tear in my stomach lining — air and stomach acid, etc, were escaping into my abdomen."
"They always say this but it’s very true, if I had waited any longer, I could have died. My body was the one who told me something was absolutely wrong,” he said later in the clip.

In a Dec. 19 update, Pintauro stated in an Instagram update that he’d undergone a laparotomy, or open abdominal surgery, the Cleveland Clinic states, adding that the operation usually occurs in an "emergency setting."
“I had the stitches and the tube removed,” he said. “So I’m officially free of anything constricting, which feels great.”
At the time, Pintauro added that he still had a couple of weeks left in his healing journey, but that he was feeling much better. He also shared a GoFundMe link to help with any costs not covered by his insurance.
In a message posted on Instagram a week ago, he said he felt at "93 percent," and thanked fans for helping him surpass his GoFundMe goal of $5,000.
