Danielle Fishel is praising Sabrina Carpenter for her success.

The actress, 43, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the evolution of her career as an actor and director. Reflecting on her time on Girl Meets World, in which she revived her role from Boy Meets World as Topanga Lawrence, Fishel said watching costar Sabrina Carpenter become a famous pop star.

“It’s been a dream come true,” Fishel gushed. “It was also never something I doubted from the moment I met her. Her work ethic, her drive, her personality, her comedic skills, her sensitivity, her ability to communicate, all of the things that she has had since she was a child, everyone is getting to see and experience a little bit of the Sabrina that I’ve known now for over 10 years.”

“She deserves every good thing that comes to her,” she continued. “She’s one of my favorite people on the planet. She’s one of my best friends, and I’m just so thrilled for her.”

This isn’t the first time Fishel has celebrated Carpenter’s success. In April 2024, Fishel applauded her former costar for landing on the Billboard Top 10 list for her hit Grammy-nominated song “Espresso.”

“You’ve done it my bb!! I’m crying fr,” Fishel wrote on her Instagram Stories, along with several stickers that said “Congratulations” and “More espresso less depresso,” referencing the name of Carpenter’s single.

In May, Fishel even attended Saturday Night Live to support Carpenter, who was the musical guest for the show’s finale episode, in her major career milestone.

“Had the literal time of my life watching my bb check a massive box off her bucket list,” Fishel wrote in a post on Instagram, proudly sharing photos from the night. “Met some absolute legends and cried tears of joy. NY, you are magical!”

“I love you!!!!!” Carpenter commented on the post, which featured a backstage photo of the former costars, a solo shot of her outside 30 Rock, and some selfies of Fishel with SNL stars including Kenan Thompson and Marcello Hernandez.

Fishel and Carpenter, 25, worked together on Girl Meets World from 2014 to 2017. The Disney Channel series saw the return of fan-favorite Boy Meets World characters Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga Matthews as they navigated life in New York City with their teen daughter, Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), and her best friend, Maya Hart (Carpenter).

The “Nonsense” singer has spoken highly about her time on the reboot, telling Teen Vogue in 2020 that the series was her "world" while it was airing.

“That was my everything and I was so proud to be a part of it and everything that it stood for definitely would have done some things different had I been doing it now, but I think the beauty of the show was that we really were at the age that we were playing and we were coming into ourselves as we were playing characters that were coming into themselves,” she said.

“I've created friendships from that show that'll last a lifetime,” she added. “I can't really go back and wish that I could change too much, because it was real.”
