Dakota Johnson Wasn't Aware She Was 'Overdosing On Caffeine' By Guzzling This Popular Drink

Dakota Johnson got played by a can.

Over the weekend, Variety published an interview with the “Madame Web” star about her directorial debut, a short film titled “Loser Boy” that will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this month.

During the interview, Johnson spoke about a new drink she “discovered” on set that she immediately took a liking to — Celsius.

Celsius, an energy drink, can contain anywhere from 200 to 270 milligrams of caffeine, according to the beverage’s website. To put that into perspective, an 8-ounce cup of coffee has about 96 mg of caffeine, while a can of Red Bull has about 80 mg

Phrases like “live fit,” “accelerates metabolism” and “burns body fat” are printed on the cans, however, which could make a consumer think they’re consuming a pre-workout or vitamin-dense beverage rather than a Monster Energy-like drink.

“I discovered Celsius on day one of filming,” Johnson told Variety, “I didn’t know that it was like Red Bull. I thought it was a natural drink.”

She thought she was experiencing a creative breakthrough, but she was just hopped up, she said.

“I was like, ‘I’m so creative. I’m so inspired. I’m awake all night long. I’m not sleeping, because I’m just thinking,’” Johnson recalled. “And it’s because I was having like two Celsius a day. I thought it was vitamins. I didn’t realize I was basically overdosing on caffeine.”

The “Fifty Shades” star said her costume designer broke the news to her that she appeared “unwell” and was “basically drinking four Red Bulls” a day.

Johnson said it was “really upsetting” to learn the truth about her new favorite drink, and she quit consuming as much.

But she appears to still have an itch for the sweet, sweet elixir.

“Now I know that in dire straits, there’s Celisus,” Johnson joked. “And I’m looking for an endorsement. Celsius, I’m your girl.”
