Cruise passengers' fury over new Channel 10 show: 'Ruined my holiday'

Channel 10's The Real Love Boat has been slammed by holidaymakers who “were not told” the reality show would be filmed on their cruise ship.

Passengers onboard Princess Cruises's Regal Princess have claimed it “ruined their holidays” after the show was shot alongside several thousand paying guests.

Ms Johnson from England says she never would have booked the Regal Princess for her 50th birthday if she'd known about the disruptions after spending thousands on the trip.

“We would not have joined the ship for my 50th Birthday celebrations had we known the potential disruption at times, as having a set of step ladders straddled across the bottom of my sun lounger for a lighting crew member to start fitting string lights around the sun deck during late afternoon, ready for filming,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.

“Trollies of equipment noisily wheeled back and forth, main areas were cordoned off and passengers were flicked out of the way so they could build a set for filming.

"Maybe many passengers were intrigued and felt part of the experience, we were not. Some of the contestants were not careful with 'cruise conduct' remarks of making the most of the free drinks were often heard … not a problem in a night club maybe but not this as our main holiday and not a week in Ibiza.”

Upon arriving on the boat, guests were handed a letter informing them of the filming, saying: “We hope you'll enjoy getting a behind-the-scenes glimpse of some television magic during your vacation."

A second passenger, Casey Plessel, recently claimed on Facebook she had her accommodation on the ship “downgraded as they prioritised the crew” instead.

However, a third passenger, Jon Gardiner, says: “A few venues [on the boat] were off limits from time to time which was occasionally a little annoying but [filming] was interesting to watch.”

Stars 'spoil shows ending'

Channel 10's newest reality show premiered on Wednesday night, and two contestants have already appeared to have spoiled the ending.

Single parents Sally Geach and Jay Bonnell instantly clicked during the first episode and have hinted that they’re still together.

Over the past week, the single parents have been sharing photos on Instagram from the same locations in Bali.

At the end of Wednesday’s episode, Jay chose Sally to stay on the boat with him, and she was excited to see where their relationship would go.

Jay’s father, Mark Bonnell, also commented on one of Sally’s Instagram posts, writing: “You would make a beautiful daughter-in-law. Just saying.”

People slammed the show after it first aired, with many surprised it was being filmed on a working Princess Cruises boat.

“[Are] there old people in the background?! There are other guests on this love boat?” one asked.

“It’s my absolute favourite that inevitably you see some random cruise goer wandering in their togs in the background baffled at this reality TV disaster,” added a second.
