Anyone who has been to the grocery store recently knows that the price of eggs is skyrocketing, and many stores are even facing shortages. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the cost of a dozen eggs rose 65% over the past year, and there is no end in sight. Some restaurants are choosing to pass along that extra cost to customers, but Cracker Barrel isn't one of them.

The Old Country Store took to Instagram to seemingly fire shots at Waffle House, who recently announced a nationwide egg surcharge. Stickers on the Waffle House menus say, "Temporary surcharge: 50 cents per egg. Due to the nationwide rise in cost of eggs, we've added a temporary 50 cent per egg surcharge. Thank you for understanding." The restaurant told CNN, "The continuing egg shortage caused by HPAI (bird flu) has caused a dramatic increase in egg prices. Customers and restaurants are being forced to make difficult decisions."

Other restaurants are expected to follow suit, but not Cracker Barrel, who sells an estimated 162 million eggs per year. They took to Instagram to write, "Egg surcharges? Never heard of it." What's more, anyone who orders eggs through February 12 will receive double pegs in their rewards program to help them earn free food.

Fans on Instagram applauded the effort, saying, "Giving the people what they NEED 👏🏽"
