The holiday season was a whirlwind at the Costco bakery, bringing us treats like showstopping seasonal cakes and French Toast Bagels. But if you thought the big box store’s bakers would take a breather after the holiday rush, think again.

Despite deserving a well-earned break, Costco’s in-house bakery is kicking off 2025 with a bang, unveiling what might be some of the best pastries you’ll see all year.

Costco Introduces 2 New Croissant Pastries

The plain butter croissants at Costco are the stuff of legend—delicious, consistent, and one heck of a deal. They’ve long been a pillar of the pastry section, beloved for their versatility in everything from weekday breakfasts to chicken salad sandwiches and even creative Christmas candy. They’re so versatile, in fact, that the bakery has just developed two brand new variations using the same buttery, flaky dough.

Introducing the Almond Croissant Pastries and the Onion Cheese Pinwheels. Costco blogger @CostcoBuys on Instagram spotted both of these finds in stores this week, and we can’t get there fast enough to try them. Whether you lean sweet or savory in your pastry preferences, Costco has a freshly-baked, flaky indulgence for you.

Costco’s New Almond Croissant Pastries

First up: the Almond Croissant Pastries. Made with the iconic butter croissant dough, these pastries are stuffed with just the right amount of rich almond filling, then topped with sliced almonds and a dusting of powdered sugar.

Visually, these pastries are stunning—golden and towering with enough layers to get lost in. And, if you’ve tried the almond danishes (which these closely resemble), you already know that Costco simply doesn't miss with its almond desserts.

“There’s something addictive in their almond pastries—so good!” one fan confirmed.

“We love, love, love these. So addicting if you like almond,” one customer raved. And for an extra indulgence? “Scoop of vanilla ice cream on top,” one user expertly suggested.

Costco’s New Onion Cheese Pinwheels

Now, for the savory spin, Costco’s new Onion Cheese Pinwheels are a game-changer. These pastries swirl butter croissant dough with caramelized onions and cheese, finished with a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning.

Whether you eat them plain or slice them in half to make an over-the-top breakfast sandwich, “these are fantastic,” one fan confirmed. “Delicious….slice it like a roll and put some roast beef and horseradish sauce and red onion!!!” suggested another.

Both pastries are now available in 6-count boxes for $11.99 at Costco. While some customers feel the price—about $2 per pastry—is a bit steep, we think it’s a fair deal for croissants of this caliber. They rival anything you'd find at an artisanal bakery—and just look at those portions! Plus, many members say they often freeze the pastries to enjoy them one at a time, making that little box go a long way.

Now, the big question remains: are these pastries here to stay? Because neither features seasonal flavors, there’s hope they could be permanent offerings. But just to be safe, we recommend grabbing a box (of each) on your next Costco run. Either way, Costco’s bakery is already setting the tone for a delicious year ahead.
