Coldplay's Chris Martin performs Shane Warne tribute song in Perth

Shane's kids were in attendance for the special moment.

Chris Martin from Coldplay debuted a new song in memory of Shane Warne at the band's recent Perth show, with Shane Warne's kids in attendance to see the special moment.

The singer introduced the 'one-time' song as a tribute to a friend but didn't immediately make it clear it was about Shane.

“I’m going to sing a song about my friend, hopefully this applies to any friends you’ve lost along the way,” Martin said. “This is maybe a one-time song.”

It was only when he started singing, with the lyrics "Thanks for everything Shane" that the crowd realised the song was dedicated to the late Aussie cricketer.

The song detailed the pair's friendship, as well as a few quips about Shane's bright white teeth and his love for ciggies.

"We met in an elevator 2001, you told me about Simone, your daughter and your son. You ate some french fries and I nibbled on an avocado. We tried to explain cricket to Nelly Furtado," Chris sang.

"We both got pretty busy, you kept Australia winning. But we met when we could between singing and spinning. You puffed dart after dart, you made me a passive smoker. Tried to explain to me all about poker," the song continued.
