Ciara and Russell Wilson Share Devastating Personal Loss
Ciara and her husband, Russell Wilson, announced a devastating loss for their family in heartbroken posts on social media this week.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback was the first to share the news with his fans on Instagram on Thursday, Jan. 16. As the NFL player revealed, Prince, the 12-year-old dog that first came into his life when Wilson was just a rookie, has died.
Prince was “a blessing to our family with so many memories, hugs and kisses from our 4 kids and us,” the professional athlete wrote in a caption accompanying a four-part Instagram carousel that included throwback photos of Prince as a puppy and more recent snapshots.
“You will forever be a part of us,” Wilson’s caption continued. “Today was a hard day. But you overcame cancer 2x and lived 12 years when most live 6. Heaven got a good one! Forever the Prince of Peace. Love you.”
The “1, 2 Step” singer posted a tribute of her own on social media a few hours later. Her seven-part Instagram carousel included one of the same snapshots that her husband shared and additional photos showing their young kids spending time with their four-legged friend.
“Forever with us,” Ciara, 39, wrote. "Forever in our hearts. Forever Thankful for the amazing memories you gave us. We will miss you so much and we will always love you Prince! 🖤 🤍.”
Both posts were met with sorrowful comments from fans who reassured them that Prince “will always be with you” while sending knowing messages about the pain that comes with losing a beloved pet.
The “Goodies” singer has been with Wilson, 36, for most of Prince’s life, with the two marrying back in 2016. Ciara and Wilson have three children together: daughters Sienna, 7, and Amora, 1, as well as son Win, 4. Ciara also has a 10-year-old son, Future Zahir, from her previous relationship with the rapper Future.
