Chrishell Knows It’s Weird To Be Promoting ‘The Traitors’ During the L.A. Fires

The L.A. fires may have delayed some Hollywood events (the Critic's Choice Awards, the Oscar nominations, premieres, etc), but television premieres aren't so easily moved. Which is how Chrishell Stause found herself in the painful position of promoting The Traitors season 3 premiere while herself preparing for possible evacuation of her L.A.-area home.

The Selling Sunset star is competing on season 3 of Peacock's hit reality competition, which premiered Thursday, January 9—right in the middle of the devastating fires, which have forced hundreds of thousands of residents to evacuate the area and wiped out entire neighborhoods. And the "odd timing" is not lost on Chrishell, who opened up about how strange it was to be promoting a television show as the fires continue in a thoughtful Instagram post.

In a carousel post, after sharing a clip from her Traitors debut, Chrishell sent a personal message to her fans explaining why she was promoting the show during this difficult time. "Hello from California, it was an extremely long two nights. Had no sleep. We did evacuate last night, but thank god they put the fire out quickly," she said, noting that she, her dog, and her partner, G Flip, were back home safe for now. "I'm so thankful. We're still in a red zone, so that means I still have to leave at any moment's notice."

"Today is the premiere of The Traitors. I felt odd posting that, but maybe you needed a little reprieve, I don't know, maybe you need escapism. I know here in California we could use a little bit," she added. "I'm just asking you to be kind. I have a job to do. I loved doing the show, it was really fun. This is obviously odd timing."

She continued, "I love you guys. I hope you watch The Traitors. I hope you have fun with it. I just wanted to add this in to give it a little bit of context so you understand. This is what we're dealing with, guys! Sending love to every single person—I have clients, I have friends that have lost everything. Please, I'll do everything I can to help everyone I can."

Chrishell wasn't the only member of The Traitors cast to be evacuated due to the fires. Her fellow competitor (and ally) Gabby Windey, revealed that she was being evacuated in a post promoting the show. "It feels surreal/strange/(can't totally find the right word) to tell you that The Traitors premieres tonight as I'm being evacuated from my home. Talk about gaslighting," she captioned the post. "Ideally this gives an ounce of reprieve form the heartbreak of this all."
